CCY Kids Connect

Purpose

To provide intentional, caring connections for select 1st–5th grade students by pairing them with trusted adults from our church who can offer encouragement, attention, and consistency.

This is not about fixing behavior or teaching lessons—it's about a relationship.

What This Program Looks Like

  • Who: Selected 1st–5th grade students who would benefit from extra one-on-one or small-group attention

  • When: One Sunday every 4–6 weeks

  • Time Commitment: About 15–20 minutes

  • Where: At church, during the service/class hour

  • Ratio: 1 mentor with 1–3 students

  • Activities: Simple games, conversation, encouragement, connection

Mentors will not miss the entire service, just a short portion, but the impact can last a lifetime.

Mentor Role: What You'll Do

Mentors are asked to step into a simple but powerful role:

  • Greet and spend intentional time with 1–3 assigned kids

  • Play a board game, card game, or simple activity

  • Ask questions and listen

  • Encourage them and help them feel seen and valued

  • Be a consistent, safe, caring adult presence

That's it. No teaching. No counseling. No prep work.

What Mentors Are Not Expected to Do

  • ❌ No lesson planning

  • ❌ No discipline responsibility

  • ❌ No counseling or problem-solving

  • ❌ No weekly commitment

This is a connection, not correction.

Why This Matters

Some of our kids need:

  • Someone who knows their name

  • Someone who looks forward to seeing them

  • Someone who listens without rushing

Healthy, trusting relationships with caring adults can shape a child's faith, confidence, and sense of belonging—for years to come.

This program exists because relationships matter. And because many of us (you included) know firsthand how life-changing one caring adult can be.
